HIMSS Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)
The Maryland chapter of the Health Information Management Systems Society (MDHIMSS) is now accepting applications for its 2026 Student Scholarship Program. MDHIMSS will award two scholarships of $2,500 each to students pursuing education in healthcare information technology–related fields. These awards honor academic achievement, dedication to improving healthcare, and promise as future leaders in health information management and systems.
Eligibility
- Must be a Maryland resident.
- Enrolled in a healthcare-related program at an accredited college or university.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Previous recipients of an MDHIMSS scholarship are not eligible.
Award Benefits
Each scholarship recipient will receive:
- $2,500 scholarship award
- One-year MDHIMSS membership
- A one-year student assignment on the MDHIMSS Events Committee
- Complimentary admission to MDHIMSS educational programs for one year
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be assessed on demonstrated:
- Leadership
- Academic achievement (scholarship)
- Communication skills
Application Materials
To be considered, applicants must submit:
- Official or unofficial college transcript
- Proof of active enrollment/registration
- Resume (include relevant accomplishments)
- Personal statement
- Two letters of recommendation (at least one must be from a program instructor; the second may be from an instructor or an employer/supervisor)

APPLICATIONS CLOSE: March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST
