Texas Telephone Association Foundation — Overview
The Texas Telephone Association Foundation (TTA Foundation) is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization established to deepen public understanding of telephony and to encourage careers in the telecommunications industry.
Education and Research Mission
The Foundation works to highlight the role of dependable, efficient telecommunications infrastructure in Texas’s economy and to support education and research in telephony. To accomplish this, TTA Foundation sponsors lectures, seminars, other educational programs, and awards scholarships each year to Texas high school students.
2026–2027 Scholarship Program
The TTA Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2026–2027 academic year. Completed applications must be postmarked or emailed by March 14, 2026.
Scholarship awards: Six (6) four-year scholarships, each worth $2,000 per year, will be granted to students who will begin college in Fall 2026.
Eligibility and Required Materials
To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following and submit the listed documents by the March 14, 2026 deadline:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Graduate from a Texas high school no later than June 2026 and attend a high school located within the service area of a TTA member company.
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Plan to enroll at a Texas college or university in Fall 2026.
- Submit a completed application (postmarked or emailed by March 14, 2026) and a current high school transcript.
- Provide a letter of acceptance from a Texas college or university to which the student has been admitted.
- Include a typed essay of 300–1,000 words describing the applicant’s qualifications for the scholarship, future goals, and how the scholarship will support those goals.
- Include a copy of the student’s SAR (Student Aid Report).
Do not submit incomplete applications. Additional or supplemental materials will not be accepted after the original application has been submitted.
Selection Criteria and Timeline
Special consideration will be given to students intending to pursue college majors relevant to telecommunications (for example: mathematics, business, education, technology, engineering, computer science, and related fields). High school coursework, extracurricular and civic involvement, and demonstrated leadership will also factor into scholarship decisions.
- Late April 2026: The Scholarship Committee will choose six finalists to receive four-year scholarships of $2,000 per year.
- Early May 2026: Scholarship recipients will be notified.
