Careers connected to precast concrete span a variety of settings, including manufacturing plants, architectural practices, the specifying community, engineering firms and the broader construction sector. To support students pursuing these career paths, scholarship opportunities are available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Undergraduate Scholarship
An undergraduate scholarship is offered to high school seniors and current college students who plan to pursue careers related to the precast concrete industry.
Daneen S. Barbour Graduate Scholarship
The Daneen S. Barbour Graduate Scholarship supports post‑graduate study for individuals preparing for careers associated with the precast concrete field. It is intended for those enrolled in advanced degree programs that complement the industry.
Who is Eligible
Applicants must hold an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree and be enrolled in a graduate program—master’s or doctoral—at an accredited academic institution for the academic year immediately following the application deadline. In other words, candidates should be entering or continuing a master’s or doctorate program in the next academic year.
About the Scholarship and Its Namesake
This award was created in memory of Daneen S. Barbour of Barbour Concrete Company. Daneen was the 1994 recipient of the National Precast Concrete Association’s Robert E. Yoakum Award of Merit and was a strong advocate for continuing education, encouraging industry professionals to pursue postgraduate work and advanced degrees that enhance the precast concrete sector.
