Program overview
This scholarship program supports students heading to college who plan to major in agriculture, agribusiness, related fields, or who have a general interest or background in agriculture. Awards are based on strong academic achievement, involvement in agriculture, and/or demonstrated financial need. Three scholarships of $2,000.00 each will be granted.
Eligibility
- Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be one of the following: a high school senior, a high school graduate, or a current college student.
- Must be a resident of Illinois.
- Must be a Hancock County Farm Bureau member or a dependent of a member at the time the application is submitted.
- Must show potential for successfully completing the chosen course of study.
Selection criteria
Awards will be determined by consideration of the following:
- Academic record and honors, including class rank.
- Demonstrated interest in agriculture and agribusiness.
- Participation in an interview with a review panel (interviews will be scheduled after applications are received).
- Financial need.
- Evidence of self-help — how the student is contributing toward financing his or her education.
- Character and personality, including maturity, motivation, intellectual interest, moral character, and leadership.
Application requirements and deadline
Complete the online application at https://form.jotform.com/203443912803147 by midnight on March 31, 2026. In addition to the online form, you must submit:
- A digital headshot of the applicant (this may be used in promotional materials). The photo can be emailed to hcfbmanager@gmail.com.
- An official transcript. Transcripts may be mailed to the address below.
