Danny Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by National Hispanic Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees

Value: $1,000.00
Awards Available: 1
Deadline : Apr 30, 2026

Introduction
The Danny Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship was created to provide financial support to students pursuing electronics and other engineering/technical majors who need assistance to attend college. Each year a single scholarship is awarded to one student studying electronics or an engineering/technical field. The scholarship honors Danny Gutierrez — a longtime friend and mentor to many NHCFAE members who was devoted to helping others achieve higher education. Danny earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Northridge and began his career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He passed away on March 26, 2008, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Danny served the NHCFAE community for twelve years: six years as Regional Chapter Director for the Western Pacific Chapter, one year as Vice President finishing a vacant term, and two and a half years as National Director of Resources until his passing. His honesty, loyalty, humor, and friendship are fondly remembered by those who knew him.

Eligibility
- Major must be in an Engineering/Technical field (ONLY). The program is intended for students in electronics and related engineering/technical disciplines.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents living in the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Current DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients are eligible.
- Applicants must be accepted to or actively enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school at the time the scholarship is awarded.
- Application deadline: April 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM EDT. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

Recipients will be recognized at the Annual National Training Conference, and their name will be published on the NHCFAE website and in the Familia newsletter/magazine.

How to apply

- Upload an official transcript (recent high school, college, vocational, or trade school). A verification of enrollment must accompany your application. The school must compute and note your GPA on a 4.0 (unweighted) scale on the official transcript. First-year graduate students should submit their undergraduate transcript.
- Upload a Letter of Recommendation dated within the past year from a school official who can confirm your academic honors/awards, student activities, and community involvement, and who can speak to your potential for future success. The letter should address qualities such as motivation, self-confidence, leadership, and commitment, and must include the school name, address, and a telephone number for the official writing the letter. If you have more than one recommendation, combine them into a single file before uploading.
