Calvin L. Carrithers Aviation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by GlobalAir.com
Introduction
Since 1995 GlobalAir.com has served as a central resource for the general aviation community. The Calvin L. Carrithers Aviation Scholarship continues that tradition by investing in the next generation of aviation professionals.
About the Scholarship
Named for Calvin L. Carrithers — an educator, Korean War veteran, and lifelong student — this award supports U.S. university students pursuing careers in aviation. Whether you plan to become a pilot, an A&P technician, an aviation manager, or work in another aviation role, this scholarship is intended to help you move toward that goal.
Award details
- Four students enrolled at accredited colleges or universities in the United States will each receive $1,000.
- Funds are paid out in four installments of $250 over the academic year. The scholarship curator will provide a payment schedule to selected recipients.
- Recipients agree to share their aviation experiences via monthly content — either a blog post on GlobalAir.com or regular social media updates. GlobalAir.com will promote recipient content to its audience of roughly 400,000 monthly visitors, including pilots, aviation enthusiasts, and industry professionals.
Eligibility requirements (all must be met)
1. U.S. citizen and full-time student: You must be a United States citizen currently enrolled full-time in an accredited university program in the U.S. with an aviation focus (examples include Commercial Aviation, Professional Pilot, Aviation Management, or a closely related major).
2. Accredited aviation program: Your degree or training must be part of an officially accredited aviation curriculum at a U.S. institution. Flight training offered through FAA Part 141 schools may be eligible.
3. Writing/content commitment: Awardees must produce a monthly written or social media update documenting their aviation journey for the duration of the award year.
4. Application essay: Submit a 250–500 word essay that explains your intended aviation career path and details how you will fulfill the monthly content obligation throughout the academic year.
How to apply and timeline
- Review the eligibility criteria above — all four conditions are required for a valid application.
- Prepare a 250–500 word essay describing your aviation career goals and your plan for meeting the monthly writing requirement.
- Complete and submit the online application form. Submissions will be accepted beginning March 1, 2026. The application deadline is August 15, 2026. Late entries will not be considered.
- Four recipients will be chosen and notified. The $1,000 award is delivered in $250 increments during the academic year; selected students will receive a payment schedule from the scholarship curator.
