Scholarship Overview
The Reuben T. Guenthner Scholarship honors the legacy of Reuben T. Guenthner, a prominent advocate for career and technical education at both state and national levels. Guenthner’s professional path began as a career and technical education student, progressed through roles as a secondary CTE instructor and a local administrator who championed CTE programs, and culminated in his service with the North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education from 1968 until 1995. In 1982 President Ronald Reagan appointed him to the National Advisory Council on Career Education. When he retired in 1995, he was serving as North Dakota’s State Director of Career and Technical Education.
Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy all of the following conditions:
- Have completed at least one career and technical education course while in grades 9–12. Acceptable CTE areas include, but are not limited to: Agriculture Education; Business and Office Technology; Family and Consumer Sciences; Information Technology; Marketing Education; Technology and Engineering Education; or any program within Trade, Industry, Technical, and Health Careers.
- Be enrolled at a two-year public postsecondary institution in North Dakota.
- Be registered as a full-time student in a career and technical education program that is two years in length or shorter.
