New England ISA Undergrad/Grad Scholarship

Overview Since 1990 the New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (NEC-ISA) has supported students studying arboriculture, urban forestry, and closely related disciplines through annual scholarships. The awards aim to foster interest in shade and ornamental trees, honor academic achievement, and provide financial assistance. Scholarship Awards Each year NEC-ISA presents two scholarships of $2,500 apiece. Awardees are encouraged to participate in the arboriculture profession and receive complimentary registration to the Chapter’s annual conference, one night’s lodging, and two banquet tickets for a guest. Eligibility Applicants must meet one of the following residency/enrollment criteria: - Be enrolled full-time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university located in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont; OR - Be a resident of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont who is enrolled full-time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university outside those states. Academic requirements: - Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a plant-focused field such as Arboriculture, Botany, Entomology, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Urban Forestry, or a closely related program. - Have completed at least one college semester in a degree or career program in one of the above majors or a related field. Application checklist and submission instructions - Apply either through the online application or by submitting a paper application. - Provide one copy of the completed scholarship form and essay, plus an official academic transcript. - Arrange for one academic recommendation; the recommender must send the reference directly to the NEC-ISA Scholarship (address or email below). - Include a permanent/home mailing address that will be valid over the summer for correspondence. - Deadline for receipt of all application materials: April 1. - Applicants will be notified of decisions by August 15.
